Countertop Finder helps people in Central Florida find countertop fabricators and stone yards and ask them for quotes. This page explains what we collect, who sees it, and how to have it deleted.
If you ask a business for a quote
We collect what you enter in the request form: your name, email address, phone number, ZIP code, the pieces you need, your timeline, your notes, and any photos you add. We also keep the messages you exchange with the business and the quotes it sends you.
Your request goes to the one business you chose, and to Countertop Finder staff, who see requests to help when something goes wrong. We don't send it to other businesses, and we don't sell it.
If the business hasn't set up its account yet, we email it to say a customer asked for a quote, with the pieces, timeline, and ZIP code. It sees your name, contact details, and photos only after it claims its listing.
Photos you add are private. They open through links that stop working after 1 hour.
Anyone who has the link to your request's status page can see that page, so share it only with people you trust.
We email you about your request: a confirmation, messages and quotes from the business, and status changes. We don't send you marketing email.
If you own a listed business
We built listings from public business records, such as the Florida Division of Corporations, and from businesses' own websites. When you claim a listing, we keep your email address, your password (stored as a one-way hash), and what you add to the listing, such as stone inventory and photos. What you put on your listing is public.
Everyone
We use cookies only to keep you signed in and to protect forms from forgery. We don't use advertising or analytics trackers.
To limit spam, we keep a scrambled form of the IP address that sent each request. Our servers also log IP addresses and browser details for security, and keep those logs for a short time.
Companies that help us run the site
These companies handle data for us, only to provide their service:
- DigitalOcean hosts the site, its database, and photos.
- Mailgun sends our email.
- Sentry receives error reports, which leave out what you typed into forms.
We share information with others only when the law requires it.
Deleting your information
Email hello@countertopfinder.com from the address you used, and say what you want deleted: a request, its photos and messages, or your account. We delete it within 30 days. A business you sent a request to might keep its own copy of your contact details, so ask it too.
To stop invitations to claim a listing, use the unsubscribe link in the email.
Children
Countertop Finder is for adults. We don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.
Changes
When we change this policy, we update the date at the top. If a change affects how we use information we already have, we email the people it affects first.
